It's not all bad news (as the mass media would have us believe) in Iraq. Amidst all the bombings and death we most certainly ARE making progress and our strength and perseverance is proving effective in numerous ways. Sure, there are still many obstacles to overcome and terrorists to pacify ... but our armed forces need their victories covered as much (if not more) than the defeats. Following is a recent victory:

News: Troops Uncover Bomb Factory, Terrorist Cell
Defend America | 01/11/04 | U.S. Army Spc. Al Barrus

AL RASHID, Baghdad, Iraq, Jan. 11, 2005 — On Jan. 9, the soldiers of Blue Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 5th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, embarked on a raid that proved to be their most successful in 10 months here.

The target was a residential home in the Al Doura neighborhood. An informant told of the exact layout of the home, and he was right on the money. After thorough searching, the site yielded 23 artillery shells, wire and electrical triggers and other supplies that could be assembled into more than 50 improvised explosive devices, said 1st Lt. Matthew Sullivan, Blue Platoon leader.

Thanks to the intelligence source, Sullivan’s platoon knew exactly what to expect when entering the house. A warm welcome wasn’t included.

“We busted in the house and there were two guys who were in there. One just took off running right as we kicked down the door,” said Sullivan, a Chattanooga, Tenn., native. “He managed to escape through the back door and scaled a wall then ran through another house. His brother was in the house also, but we got him.”

After all suspects were detained, the search of the home began. Nothing could prepare these troops for what they would find.

“I checked all but one room and didn’t see anything, and then I had some of my guys go upstairs to do some searching,” Sullivan explained. “Right when they opened up they said, ‘Oh, sir, you have to check this out.’ The room was just an IED workshop. All over the floor were wires, batteries and containers full of plastic explosives. There was even an IED already to go.”

“We have been tracking these guys for a month and a half so far. They are linked to some IEDs that have hit our company. I think this will make the number of IED attacks in our sector fall drastically,” U.S. Army 1st Lt. Matthew Sullivan

Spc. Jason Nelson, a humvee gunner in Blue Platoon was among the first to enter the room with the IED workshop.

“I went into room, and I was just shocked by how much electrical stuff was in there laying on tables. I had never seen that much stuff,” commented Nelson, a Saukcentre, Minn., native. “By then, I already knew we made a big impact. I know having that out of those guys hands, it’s safer for us and for the Iraqis.”

At that point, Sullivan saw he had an operation too big for his platoon of 16 troopers to handle alone. Soon after his men discovered this workshop, the lieutenant called in for the explosives ordnance disposal team to deal with the bombs, and the battalion’s quick reaction force to apply more manpower.

When the rest of the backup arrived, more security could be applied, allowing for a more thorough search. Metal detector assistance found the artillery shells buried in the back yard. A taxi cab parked at the home had a wire-rigged assembly in the trunk that could perfectly fit six artillery shells, Sullivan added.

Over the seven hours of searching, the list of suspicious items kept adding up: several handfuls of C4 explosives, bags of nails and marbles for shrapnel, tear gas grenades and gas masks, dozens of disassembled remote control cars, 30 cell phones, 50 Sony Playstations. A beret and armband from the former regime’s Special Forces provided a clue as to who these terrorists’ former employer was, Sullivan said.

In all, the target was the most fruitful cache of weapons for a home this size in the battalion’s history here. It was also a great victory in cracking down on the source of anti-Iraqi attacks in Company B’s sector, he said.

“We have been tracking these guys for a month and a half so far. They are linked to some IEDs that have hit our company,” Sullivan continued. “I think this will make the number of IED attacks in our sector fall drastically.”

Sullivan said that this operation not only helped keep his troops safe, but put an end to what the terrorists had planned on doing for the elections.

"We heard they were planning to hit a Christian church with their car bomb and just disrupt things before the elections, but we put a kink in that,” he said. “Now we just need to find the rest of members of the cell one by one, and who’s financing them.”

The platoon leader said it’s missions like this one that remind him of why he enjoys leading troops in combat.

“It’s been a great experience doing this job. I can’t ask for anything more than to lead a platoon in combat,” Sullivan concluded. “It’s kind of a rush sometimes. It’s been something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Finally! I haven't been able to log on all day to post. Seems the cable is acting up and it's supposed to be fixed soon. Had to McGyver myself a connection but it's unreliable so I'm not going to spend too much time on here right now but I will say the following:

CBS (and Dan Rather) seem to be getting a free ride with the conclusion of the investigation into that "Memogate" scandal. Sure a few people have been fired but Rather is STILL claiming the authenticity of those forged documents and he wasn't one of the ones fired. We can't let them get away with this. Guy in business suit behind me, about 50-ish - "Don't tell me you voted for that idiot."

Me - "Of course I did!"

Guy - "How could anyone put that guy in office again?"

Me - "Well, plenty of us saw it fit to do just that."

Guy - "This is a nation of brainwashed morons."

Lady behind the guy - "Hey! I voted for Bush, too! Don't you be calling me a moron!"

Guy - "I just don't understand you people at all."

Me - "So you voted for Kerry, then?"

Guy - "No. I decided to skip this election."

Lady - "Then that would make YOU the moron."

Me - "Yeah, really."

Guy - "I just don't understand you people. We have to take this country back!"

Me - "How? By not voting?"

Guy - "Oh, shut up! I would have voted if there had been someone worth voting for."

Me - "Well, then don't complain about the outcome."

It was then my turn at the counter and I left those two, still arguing amongst themselves. The Democrats are in DEEP trouble ...

Quite a few recent happenings that I'm having problems with. Good to see that the world doesn't stop spinning on its axis just because I take a few days off from blogging.Anyhow, here we go ...

Although our aid is now up to over $350 million we're STILL being called cheapskates by various factions. Cheapskates???? Give me a break! We're in the middle of a war, just had a few natural disasters of our own right here in the U.S. (Florida) which required aid as well, and we STILL can find it in ourselves to help out with THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS. That makes us cheap????

And that reminds me ... why is it that we always can come up with money for these types of situations yet the funds seem to be tapped out when it's time to properly equip our troops? How about the recent findings that some of our fallen soldiers can't get headstones because there are no funds available?

I'm as saddened and shocked as the next guy about the tsunami situation but I also happen to think that we're covering that disaster a little too much, know what I mean? Turn on the TV and EVERYONE is talking about this disaster, having seemingly forgotten that we're currently in a war.

I don't know. Maybe I've had too much time to think over these past days off but these things are seriously bothering me. Especially when you see pictures of people wearing Bin Laden t-shirts and being handed boxes of food by OUR troops.

So we seem to be off to a pretty good start for this coming year. Bush will remain in office for another four years, the economy continues to grow, and it looks like the elections in Iraq will happen after all. Granted, there will be setbacks and pitfalls but if we remain true and steadfast in our decisions and actions it's inevitable that we will "win" the war on terror and get the world moving in the right direction ... with or without our "allies".

Here's hoping that everyone affected by any form of terror or tragedy (man-made or act of God) will be faced with a prosperous, healthy, happy 2005 ... or at least a peaceful one.

Been spending the last few days just hanging with the kid and acting like a 12 year old. My son is the most important part of my life and, luckily, we get along great. Every once in a while I like to just drop everything else and give him 100% of my attention ... all else can wait.

That being said, I grow more and more sickened each passing day with all the new footage of those horrible waves, floating bodies, people swept under by the tides, body bags, devastation, destruction ... and chaos. God, what a horrible state of affairs ...

The terrorists are now threatening to kill any Iraqis going out to vote next month. Like this is something new? They're killing Iraqi citizens each and every day. Their focus has been on these people and NOT on the coalition forces ... which leads me to wonder if the Iraqi populace really wants us out of there as so many of the mass media wants us to believe. From what soldiers tell me, the people want us to remain there until these terrorists are GONE.

R.I.P. Jerry Ohrbach ... Lenny Briscoe of Law & Order. My fave TV show since it's inception. Sure, he left the show last season but was heading into his own spin-off when prostate cancer took him away forever.

With all the cheer and happiness that surrounds this time of year it took me by surprise when I found out about that horrible earthquake and tsunami that has taken so many lives. I'd been busy with other holiday-related nonsense and didn't even bother to turn on the TV so I was unaware of this tragedy until talking on the phone with my sister earlier today.

It's weird to feel happy about everything we've received for Christmas when so many thousands of people received such a massive tragedy and lost their lives or those of their loved ones.

I'm at a loss as to what else to say ...

Oh, my God! Donald Rumsfeld didn't actually use a PEN to sign the condolence letters that are sent to families of fallen soldiers. This is an outrage! How insensitive can you get??? Fire him NOW!!!

The above paragraph is 100% SARCASM, folks. Why is such a big deal being made about this? At least he took the time to send the letters. Look, ladies and gents, my son is now 12 but (God forbid) he was in the service and lost his life I would appreciate ANY type of communication and condolence from those in charge. To get all up in arms about Rumsfeld using a machine instead of personally signing these notes is RIDICULOUS.

I love those old Saturday Night Live skits with Chevy Chase falling off of ladders and channeling Gerald Ford. I love the Vacation movies ... and I also love Fletch. Now I've been sitting here thinking "what Chase has done recently?" and I can't come up with a damned thing ... until this new development. I'm sure you've all heard about his recent over-the-top Bush bashing but,if not, here's a report from Drudge:

Even Hollywood liberals were left reeling after Chevy Chase's potty-mouthed Bush-bashing Tuesday night at the Kennedy Center, where the actor hosted an awards ceremony staged by People for the American Way.

The WASHINGTON POST on Thursday claims Chase unleashed a rant against President Bush that stunned the crowd.

He deployed the four-letter word that got Vice President Dick Cheney in hot water, using it as a noun. Chase called the prez a "dumb (expletive)." He also used it as an adjective, assuring the audience, "I'm no (expletive) clown either. ... This guy started a jihad."

Chase also said: "This guy in office is an uneducated, real lying schmuck ... and we still couldn't beat him with a bore like Kerry."

People for the American Way distanced itself Wednesday from the actor's rant.

Founder Norman Lear tells the paper: "I thought it was utterly untoward, obviously unexpected and unscripted and all that stuff. And, uh _ it was Chevy Chase. He'll live with it, I won't."

It seems to me that Chase did this for one of three reasons -

1. The drugs that he was on making him immune to pain during his Saturday Night Live years have been resulting in recent flashbacks.

2. He's striving for attention and, since that failed talked show of a few years back, hasn't been getting it through normal means.

3. He's lost his mind.

Perhaps it's a mix of all three reasons. Whatever the case might be even Bob Beckel (whom I've never seen eye to eye with) was denouncing Chase's actions on this morning's Fox News Live ... so that has to mean something. Are the Lefties starting to realize that Michael Moore-ish tactics and anger are NOT the way to go?

If you've been watching Fox News you've undoubtedly seen footage of Barney, the Bush's dog, cavorting and running around the white house as star of his latest "film". In this short home movie (about 7 minutes long) we see Barney getting instructed by the President to keep an eye on Ms. Beasley (the new puppy) as well as many cameos from White House staffers.

It's a trip ... and yet again goes to show why I like George W. Bush so much. Not only is he a great leader, but the man has a great sense of humor as well.

William Grim, Contributing Editor of the popular conservative web site The Iconoclast, has penned the following article with regards to the recent murder of DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott:

"You've undoubtedly heard by now that a demented fan last week killed heavy metal guitarist Dimebag Abbott at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. While I am extremely happy to hear that the assassin was shot to death by a brave Columbus policeman and I in no way want to engage in a blaming the victim scenario, I cannot deny that there much in Mr. Abbott's demise of one being hoisted on one's petard. The squalor, inhumanity, filth (both in the metaphorical and hygienic senses), depravity, ugliness and ignorance of everything that heavy metal represents (Like rap, I cannot use the noble term music in a description of heavy metal) creates a mindset among its devotees in which Mr. Abbott's assassination was an event that was all but waiting to happen.

"It was highly amusing, and also terribly sad, to watch on television fans conducting a 'vigil' for the slain Mr. Abbott outside of the Alrosa Villa. A year already???

Wow ... I didn't realize until seeing a report on Fox news a few minutes ago that it's been a whole year since the capture of Saddam Hussein. It seems like only yesterday that I sat there staring at the TV as they showed pictures of the rat-hole that this animal had been hiding out and living in. Then we were subjected to days upon days of footage of the poor bastard's mouth being probed and prodded ... and the lice checks ... etc., etc.

So where is he now and what is he doing? Who cares?! Had it been up to me I would have dropped him right back into that rat-hole and then filled it up with cement! I don't know ... I just have this horrible feeling that he will somehow escape death at the conclusion of his trial.

So it looks like Bernard Kerik will not be getting that Homeland Security position after all, even though he was nominated by President Bush recently. Kerik took what some call the smart way out by taking himself out of the running before the dirt started piling up.

In my opinion, they're making mountains out of molehills here. Kerik has held plenty of positions in the past which required serious background checks and scrutiny. If nothing significant was found then, why bother looking now? Why try to ruin this man's chances of being a great leader? He's PERFECT for the job ...

Earlier this morning I was listening to some political commentator (a Democrat) spewing forth all sorts of accusations and rhetoric concerning Kerik's indiscretions and whatnot ... even bringing up alleged affairs. I ask you ... weren't these people just a few years ago claiming that sex and politics should be kept separate? Weren't they trying to diminish the impact of the Clinton/Lewinsky affair?

Obviously Bernard Kerik is of high moral fiber and didn't want to put his family (and himself) through a mudslinging match which would have inevitably erupted upon his appointment.

Now they're even saying that this misguided debacle might have some repercusions which will affect Bush and, in four years, Giuliani (should he decide to run for the highest office). This is ridiculous, folks ...

I haven't seen anyone else address this so I figured that I might as well do so. My question is this: why does it offend some people to have the words "under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance and they're also offended by any mention of God, Jesus, or Christmas during the holidays ... but, at the same time, it's perfectly acceptable for actors and musicians to thank God during their award acceptance speeches?

I caught a little bit of the Billboard Music Awards tonight and I would swear that 99% of the award recipients thanked God ... right there in front of everyone ... and no one objected. No one will object tomorrow either ... or the next day. There won't be any outraged Atheist groups complaining to the FCC or attempting to boycott award show advertisers.

Aren't the majority of musicians and artists aligned with the Left? Doesn't the Left get offended by any Christian imagery in public? Aren't they responsible for forcing the word "Christmas" to be replaced by "Holiday" or "Winter Season" or countless other WRONG names for what this season actually is? Then why do so many of these people feel the need to thank God in a public forum like that?

Hypocrisy? Big time, folks. Big time.

Some sad news tonight for the Metal music world as well. Seems that ex Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed tonight at his current band's (Damageplan) show in Ohio along with another member of the band whose name hasn't been released yet. Another senseless shooting ... another talented person's light shut off prematurely.

No, I was never a huge fan of Pantera or, now, Damageplan but I do appreciate what they did for Heavy Metal and the talent that they possessed. The riff for their song "Walk" has been burned into my brain since the first time I heard it. This just pisses me off!

The Pearl Harbor attacks happened 63 years ago today. Let's take a minute to remember those brave men and women that lost their lives on that fateful day. At the same time, let's keep our folks currently overseas in our thoughts as well. Those putting their lives on the line so that morons like Michael Moore and George Soros can continue to freely spew their attacks on us conservatives and everything that we hold sacred. And while we're at it, let's never forget what happened here in our own country on September 11th of 2001 ...

I especially love listening to such politically enlightened people as GWAR's Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie) pondering the reasons for this latest Bush triumph.

"It's absolutely unbelievable that we elected that bastard. It's either Americans are as stupid as they say we are, or our electoral process is a complete sham. ...or both."

Or perhaps, Dave, the majority of Americans saw through the phony veneer that the other candidate (the with the "plans") exhibited and realized that re-electing George W. Bush was the right thing for this country to do.

More bombs go off in Spain ...

Seems like this is the second time in less than a week that terrorists took Spain by storm again. No, not Al Queda disciples but members of ETA are the ones responsible for these acts of terrorism. Being a Spaniard myself, I'm very familiar with this Spanish terror groups tactics and actions over the years. Some say that there are ties between ETA and the Islamic terror group ... but I don't believe that anyone has proven these theories. They're just as evil, though ...

Democrats are still in denial ...

Hard to believe (or maybe it isn't) but John Kerry has thrown his hat into the ring of people bitching and moaning about the election results in Ohio. At the same time Reverend Jesse (Rhymin') Jackson is organizing countless fraud accusation rallies and whatnot. The Ohio Secretary of State is about to officially declare a Bush victory (after a string of recounts) but these facts seem to be dismissed or ignored by the Lefties. To them I say ... GET OVER IT! You lost. Period.

Debra Lafave is a 24 year old, married, attractive school teacher ... who also happens to be a PEDOPHILE. My question is this : why does just about EVERY single news report of this story fail to mention the word "pedophile"? Is it because the victim was a young boy and not a young girl? Is it because the perpetrator is a "hot" young woman herself and not some overweight, balding male? Or might it be because there's a double standard when it comes to child sex abuse?

Pedophiles are animals no matter what their sex happens to be ... and should be treated just as harshly by the press. It shouldn't make a difference whether the abuser is a beauty queen, sideshow freak, Catholic priest ... or guy next door.

This is all taking political correct-ness to the extreme. It sickens me that we've come to this and that we allow it to happen. The anti-Christian hordes are out of control. Why is it that we're supposed to tolerate ALL groups yet it seems like Christians are always singled out for censorship of their faith? Please note that I said "THEY" when referring to Christians and not "WE". Why? Because I'm more spiritual than religiously minded these days ... but I do believe that everyone has a right to worship as they please. Most importantly, I don't think that we should try to sweep thousands of years' worth of tradition under the rug.

The latest ABUSE: Teachers in Utah have been told that they can't use the word "Christmas" in class ...

It boggles the mind the amount of weaponry, explosives, slaughter-houses and other such instruments of terror which have so far been found in that "peaceful" city. The one thing that bugs me about how we went about taking that city is how politically correct we were in doing so. In my opinion we shouldn't have been so quick to spare the Mosques and other such places which were being used by the TERRORISTS as weapons depots and sniper hideouts. This is WAR, after all, isn't it?

I'm sure that a handful of people will be quick to call me a war-monger and baby killer (as has happened before) for these opinions ... but I honestly don't care. I think that our troops should have every right to respond to fire with fire and if I were in a situation where someone was shooting at me from a Mosque I don't think that I'd be thinking about the history and purpose of that structure but, rather, keeping myself and my fellow troops safe and in one piece.

Wow ... what an amazing piece of literature. So enlightening that I thought I'd address it here. Are you reading this, buddy? What's the matter ... too chicken to sign your messages? You think you're smart but you forgot to cover your tracks and left your headers in plain view ... and I know damned well who you are. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

And now to address your comments ...

First of all, I could hardly be called a "Jesus freak". While it's true that I grew up in a Catholic household and went through 12 years' worth of Catholic school I could hardly be called a practicing Catholic these days. As a matter of fact, I haven't been active in my so-called faith for almost 20 years now. I'm more spiritual than religious nowadays ...

While I'm not not guided by faith, others shouldn't be denied the right to freely express theirs. I also don't think that we should be trying to change (or ignore) this country's history for the sole purpose of not offending other groups or faiths. There is no denying that this country was founded upon religious beliefs by some religious people. Why deny that? Why try to cover it up ... or change (ignore) the FACTS?

By the way, I'll gladly pay for your fare to Canada. Do you have a date in mind?

This is seriously starting to get out of hand. Now a teacher is being banned from showing the Declaration of Independence to his 5th grade students. Why? Because it mentions God!!! This is beyond ridiculous, folks. Aren't we all Americans? Wasn't our country founded upon this very document? I am truly at a loss for words right now ... and angry.

Thanksgiving. Hmmm .... we're supposed to give thanks on this day for whatever it is that we're thankful for so I guess that I'll play along ...

I'm thankful that enough Americans were smart enough to vote for George W. Bush. The thought of Johnny Flipflop in the oval office scares me almost as much ... almost ... as the thought of Hillary. Ewwwwww ...

I'm thankful for my family and friends ... especially the family ... and most of all my wonderful son.

I'm thankful that my company is taking off and things are moving along at a swift pace. It took (and continues to take) a ton of hard work ... but it's definitely worth it.

It seems that the A.C.L.U. is up in arms once again because of the new TSA regulations that allow for patting down of passengers more frequently before boarding a plane. I fail to see what all the uproar is about. Don't we want the authorities to do everything in their power to try to PREVENT another 9/11? Sure, the longer lines might be a bit annoying but if a longer wait will keep some NUT from entering the plane with a shoe bomb or box cutter and evil intentions ... so be it. I'll gladly wait. On a similar note, if someone in authority really wants to take the time to pat me down ... I say GO FOR IT.

Come on, people. You can't have it both ways. God forbid someone should be successful in another hijacking/homicide attempt and the very same people bitching and moaning about all of these new measures will be saying that we didn't do ENOUGH.

Granted, there will always be those people (small numbers of them) who will feel the need to abuse their power and maybe take some liberties with the passengers but there are sickos in all industries, aren't there? You have to take the BIG PICTURE into account. As long as these screeners are well trained and supervised the questionable incidents will be kept to a minimum ... and we'll ALL be safer.

The downward spiral that Dan Rather has been on will hit bottom this coming March when he "retires". Of course, his timing in the decision to leave prior to Memo-gate investigators submitting their findings makes this all look a bit too ... odd.

Had he been planning to leave all along I'm pretty sure that Dan might have made note of this past election being his last as a commentator, wouldn't he? These guys are very into themselves so the timing (and lack of build-up) are questionable, as far as I'm concerned.

I've always thought that he was a decent talking head for the evening news but to say that Rather was an unbiased reporter is complete and utter bunk. It was also obvious to anyone with eyes (and ears) that this "reporter" seemed to be willing to do everything and anything possible (legal or not) in order to TRY to get George W. Bush out of office.

Brokaw's gone and Rather's on his way out as well. I'm thinking that the mainstream media's nervous right about now ...

It's times like these when I don't feel like being politically correct. Times like these when I think that we have to look out for number one first, with US being number one. Call it Nationalism or what you will but I'm just sick and tired of being ridiculed for being proud to be an American.

As simplistic and cliche'd as it might be, the way I'm feeling lately is that "if you don't like it (the USA), leave!" I'm tired of the mainstream media portraying us as the instigators and sometimes even going as far as saying that WE are the terrorists. Some media hacks are even of the opinion that the insurgents in Iraq are NOT terrorists but akin to our own revolutionaries of the 18th century. To that I say ... are you freaking kidding me?????

Wake up, Lefties. Don't you realize that these ANIMALS want to destroy YOU as well?

Anyhow, before I blow my top I'm going to have to stop thinking about all of this. I'll leave you for now with the winner of Friday's contest. Putting the politics aside for a minute ... a contest!

I've finally settled on a new "look" for this Blog, going for that depressing gray color in honor of the mood that most of the Lefties are in these days. I've also changed the header and you might want to keep that in mind for later on in this posting ...

As some of you may or may not know, I run an indie record label (Antidote Records) and although I try my damnedest to keep the music and politics separate, there are countless people (and companies) out there who've taken it upon themselves to badmouth and even blacklist me and the label in certain situations ... simply due to MY political leanings. I find that totally ridiculous and almost Nazi-like. What do my personal political views have to do with my business? But I digress ...

This new header has inspired me to hold a contest (our first here) for you, the readers, as a "thank you" for the continued support. It's quite simple, really. Weren't all the Presidents ever-so-loving (seemingly)yesterday at that Clinton Library opening? Bono and The Edge of U2 were there (amongst countless other celebrities ... mostly Lefties, though) and at times you almost expected them to break into a "Kumbayaa" type of thing ...

My son told me a joke a short while back that just came to mind now, as I watch a shot of Kerry and the Mrs. on Fox News: John Kerry walks into a bar and the bartender says, "Why the long face?"

The following is an accurate account (as accurately as I can remember) of a conversation that I had earlier today in the office of a local Med school between myself and a 50-ish doctor. He had been chiding me for reading The Weekly Standard and then the conversation took another turn:

DOC - So you say that you voted for Bush this past election? Why would anyone with half a brain vote for someone so obviously corrupt?

ME - Corrupt? How so?

DOC - His AWOL status from the National Guard, no WMD's in Iraq, the way he's stomping all over our civil liberties, the huge deficit, his family's ties to the Saudis ...

ME - Wow! You almost hit every single Leftie talking point in just one sentence.

DOC - Maybe so, but they're all true. The man is a buffoon! He's making a mockery of the Presidency and making us all laughing stocks worldwide.

ME - Two more basic Leftie talking points. Congratulations. You're a great sheep.

DOC - You see? That's why this country is in trouble. We have a jackass in office and rude young people backing him.

ME - Yeah, I'll admit that there's a jackass in office ... THIS office ... but I might change my mind if you could give me one reason OF YOUR OWN why you voted for Kerry.

DOC - Who says that I voted for Kerry?

ME - Oh ... I just assumed ...

DOC - No, no. I didn't vote for him.

ME - What? You threw your vote away on Nader ... or maybe that Badnarek guy?

Plenty of other people are writing about the media's premature conviction of that soldier in Iraq who recently shot a supposedly unarmed TERRORIST pretending to be dead. Doesn't it seem like most of the time they're rooting FOR the enemy?I'll get to that later but first ...

Robin Williams. I knew he was an intelligent, rational man. Here's what he had to say recently regarding current events:

I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.

1.) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic and the rest of those 'good ole boys,' We will never "interfere" again.

2.) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence.

3.) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them.

4.) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5.) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6.) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7.) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8.) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9.) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10.) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH.....learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan.

Congratulations to Condoleeza Rice on being handed the outgoing Colin Powell's position on the Bush cabinet. I've always thought she was headed for greatness (and deservingly so) and can't imagine a more worthy successor to Powell. Some on the Left are whining and moaning about how Rice is too close to Bush (and his agenda) and saying that the "world" is considering her appointment as a blow to international relations but that, to me, only goes to prove that it was the right decision.

The other BIG news of the day seems to be that America soldier in Fallujah who allegedly killed an unarmed and wounded TERRORIST with the "proof" being caught on video by an embedded journalist. If you ask me, that journalist was way too eager to pass the video footage on to the media and at this point we are still not sure of the circumstances surrounding that shooting so ... well, it's a bit premature to be attacking that enlisted man, isn't it? The matter is under investigation by the military authorities and we should ALL wait until all the FACTS are out before we start condemning anyone.

The bottom line is that these KIDS are out there defending our country and under tremendous pressure ... getting shot at every day, dealing with booby-trapped bodies, fake surrenders, homicide bombers ... etc. Unless we are in those same circumstances we shouldn't be judging any decisions.

Scott Peterson is guilty? Wow ... what a newsflash. Did we really need a judge and jury to figure that one out? The answer is ... YES. Why? Because this is the USA and in the USA you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This applies to each and every one of us ... including lowlifes like Scott Peterson.

What I don't understand about this guy is why he had to kill his wife and unborn son. If he wanted to be rid of them ... why not just LEAVE. Abandon the family (as plenty of other scum do each and every day) ... but committing murder as a way out? That takes an especially sick and twisted individual who most definitely deserves to DIE for his actions.

Another puzzling fact about this case is why the jury convicted him of first degree murder of his wife but SECOND degree murder of his unborn son. If the wife's murder was pre-meditated did he really think that the son would survive? Of course not ... so why second degree??? That's a bit puzzling.

It was officially announced earlier today that Yasser Arafat had died after an eternity (or so it seems) of speculation and mystery surrounding his status. I honestly feel, though, that he's been dead for a few days already and that this announcement was nothing but political posturing. Regardless, I also fail to see why (and how) we could celebrate this guy even in the least. Are we to celebrate the countless murders sanctioned by Arafat over the past handful of decades? Please ... like the title of this post says, "Good riddance!"

Well, for about a second I was worried (or hopeful) that everything would be smooth as silk after this election and that both parties would kiss and make up, making for a quiet time on the Blog front. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I have so far received no less than a dozen invites to March Against Bush rallies and things like that. The Leftie talking heads on the tube are already ringing the "sky is falling" alarm and the majority of my Dem friends associate the re-election of George W. Bush to the Apocalypse.

Yes, folks, there will be plenty to talk about over the next four years and beyond ...

By the way, if you're the praying kind please keep Elizabeth Edwards in your thoughts and prayers. Seems she was diagnosed with breast cancer recently. Having dealt with the big "C" myself I can understand what she's going through and wish her all the best ... and a quick recovery. The Associated Press has just announced that John Kerry has called President Bush, conceding the election. Kerry has obviously (thankfully)decided against a futile attempt at recounts and nonsense ala Florida '00. This is quite possibly the first (and only) sensible thing that the Senator has done the entire campaign.

Not only has Bush been victorious in the electoral vote count but he has also won the popular vote by just short of 4 million votes! This is the first time since his father (George H.W. Bush) won the '88 election that a President has won a majority of the popular vote. Reason to celebrate? You bet! A historic event? You bet! What will the rest of the world think? Honestly ... I really couldn't possibly care less.

Best part about this all being over (aside from Bush's re-election)? The fact that those damned ads will no longer be all over the airwaves ... and not having to put up with Terry McAuliffe's psychobabble on a daily basis.

To all of those that called, emailed and private messaged me last night when the exit polls started coming in gloating about the HUGE lead the Kerry had and wishing me "better luck next time": eat crow!

Isn't it a testament to George W. Bush's integrity and character that he waited for Kerry to concede before going out and claiming victory? This, folks, is a TRUE honest, caring, and strong individual. I am PROUD to call him my President again for this second term in office.

Those four votes are pretty much guaranteed by Alaska and New Mexico. Have you VOTED yet? If not, don't forget to do so before the polls close later tonight. We don't need to just win ... we need to win by a wide enough margin where endless recounts and chad inspections won't be mandated.

I have to make one observation and comment, though. Why do ALL of the media outlets (including my fave source, Fox News) seem to have a fatalistic attitude about the election? I'm not talking about the eventual winning candidate but about the incessant over-coverage and insinuation of voter fraud? They seem to WANT there to be fraud just so that there's something controversial to report. They also go out of their way to point out "a repeat of the 2000 debacle" ... "will we have a clear winner tonight?" ... etc., etc. It's really irritating. Yes, I want to know where there is actual fraud but I DON'T want to be constantly bombarded by these tidbits. Am I alone in my thinking?

I've been watching George W. Bush this morning ... voting and chatting with people ... and the man is just so damned genuine and personable. His speeches and comments are positive and uplighting, as they've always been. On the other hand, John Kerry is now (and always has been) nothing but an angry old man. We don't need an angry old man leading our country ... and bringing it (and us) down in the process.

I've been hearing quite a few Lefties commenting about how the President failed to protect us FROM the 9/11 attacks ... that it happened on his watch, which PROVES that he failed to protect us. That's insane. Does anyone actually believe that all the terrorists wanted to do was hit us ONCE (or three times, if you count all four planes)? No! They want to destroy our way of life ... and US. All of us, Democrats and Republicans ... and everyone in between. They would have LOVED to have destroyed more buildings and killed more citizens but THEY COULDN'T. Why? Because of the GREAT job that this administration has done in protecting our country, that's why. Because of GEORGE W. BUSH.

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that if Democratic Presidential candidate Senator John Kerry wins the election on Tuesday, he probably shouldn't invite AEROSMITH to play for him. Kerry wanted AEROSMITH to play the Democratic convention in Boston in late July, but the band was on tour in Japan, so frontman Steven Tyler said they'd play the inaugural if Kerry won. However, drummer Joey Kramer told Launch that there won't be any such appearances. "The band will not be performing for John Kerry. Unfortunately, he (Steven) volunteers his own services, and he volunteered the services of the band, but unfortunately at the time, I think he forgot to discuss it with the rest of us. And everybody has their views and feelings politically — obviously, we don't all agree — and so, you know, we couldn't come to a, a decision, and so it was decided not to get done."

It's all irrelevant, though, since we all know that there are FOUR MORE YEARS of BUSH coming ... thankfully.

First of all, I have to say that Black Sabbath are one of my all-time fave metal bands but I honestly can't imagine a more ridiculous comment than the one recently made by their drummer, Bill Ward:

"Last night while watching TV, I heard President Bush approving of the newest Republican ad, I guess in part, to further admonish John Kerry. I have no public opinion on either Bush's tactics or Kerry's tactics, however, I feel outraged that wolves were used for this ad to symbolize terrorists via/and/or to play upon man's fear of wolves now and through the centuries.

"What a cheap shot. I'm appalled by this utterly disrespectful attitude towards one of the most charismatic animals on Earth. I find this ad highly inappropriate and numbing. The wolf is part of America's heritage and landscape, and to use this animal with apparently no conscious respect for it is degrading. I resent that the current administration would use these incredible animals in its verbal brawl with Kerry."

Come on, now. I'm a huge animal lover and practically have a zoo of my own at home ... and even believe in most of what PETA stands for, but this is one of the most idiotic attacks I've seen in print.

On the other hand, Alice Cooper once again proved why he is smarter than most of these other musicians:

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that ALICE COOPER thinks one presidential candidate is better qualified than the other this year but he's not talking about their politics. Cooper serves spicy foods at his Alice Cooper's Town locations in Phoenix and Cleveland, and he told Launch that George W. Bush can probably handle the spicy dishes better that John Kerry. "Now, you know George Bush is gonna take the heat," he said. "He's from Texas this guy eats raw chilies, and probably likes them. He eats habaneros, which is the hottest chili. John Kerry I keep seeing him going, 'No no no! Oooooh that's way too hot for me! No no! Give me some of that smoked salmon, and some of that New England clam chowder. The creamy kind not the hot kind.' I've got a feeling John Kerry's got a very delicate stomach."

As for the election, Cooper isn't publicly endorsing anyone. He thinks politics is the enemy of rock-and-roll, and he doesn't understand why so many of his fellow musicians have involved themselves in the process regardless of who they support.

Desperate measures and tactics

By now everyone is aware of the missing stockpiles of weapons in Iraq that the Bush administration supposedly left unguarded after the fall of Saddam, resulting in their looting and possibly falling into the hands of insurgents and/or other terrorists. John Kerry himself latched on to the front page story from the New York Times for his "Bush is bad and here's the proof" part of his campaigning yesterday. This more than cements the fact that: a) John Kerry will say anything that he thinks will snag some swing votes no matter how true or not it might be and b) the New York Times keeps proving again and again just exactly how NON unbiased it truly is.

Thankfully, the truth came to light when an NBC news reporter embedded with the 101st Airborne Division told of how those supposedly missing stockpiles of weapons and explosives were ALREADY missing when they searched that storage facility ONE DAY after Baghdad fell. More news about that can be found HERE.

Typically enough, though, even with the facts now out there about these missing stockpiles, Kerry continues to hammer on about the subject. This guy is delusional, folks. Seriously. Why not admit that you were wrong in jumping the gun? And while we're on that matter, why doesn't the New York Times even bother to correct yesterday's story? Why? Simple ... because they have an agenda. That agenda being to put Kerry in the White House AT ANY COST ... no matter how deceitful you have to be in order to get the job done.

Well, we had some intelligent political commentary from Megadeth's Dave Mustaine earlier so I knew that it wouldn't be long before some other musician put his two cents in (and, in turn, his foot in his mouth). These comments come courtesy of The Haunted's vocalist, Peter Dolving:

THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving recently answered a fan question via the band's official forum regarding his opinion of George W. Bush and the war in Iraq. Asked why he is so anti-Bush and why he is so worried about what is going on in Iraq when Sweden is unlikely to get terrorist attack on it anytime soon (if ever), Dolving responded, "You know, sometimes I wish everything was nice and simple, the way some folks really think they are. Also, I know we've decided to stay the hell out of politics here on the site, but I'll tell you my take on what you asked here goes:

1. I work with music, ergo I travel. I go where people want to hear me play. I don't much like the idea of any kind of bogus military conflict that might end up with mine or my friends skinny little asses being blown away. OK?

2. Now I love the USA as much as anyone who's ever lived there for any amount of time. Besides, half of my family lives in the U.S. But U.S. foreign policy is just not squared up with my view of fair trade nor my ideals of human worth, dignity etc.

"When I was a little kid I found pics of American soldiers posing by thousands of dead Filipino rebels in my granpa's study from years before WW1 and I started trying to figure out what that was all about, since it just didn't work out with what I'd been taught in school. I took it up with teachers who even accused me of lying... Well, now several years later, we all know that indeed the U.S. foreign policy has more than a century worth of aggresive military strategy to secure U.S. financial interest. In the Philipines several hundred thousand natives were killed to secure the expansion of U.S. trade in the south pacific. And guess what the idea of Bush Jr. (or anyone else for that matter...) continuing that great american tradition appals me somewhat.

3. I adore many parts of the libertarian ideals of the 'American' dream. But at the same time I abhor it for its potential for abuse. Because anyone with enough cash could like a certain president we've seen in action over the last couple of years manipulate the system and take advantage of it. Good? Well I'm not convinced it's OK that money in singular possession can justify any act.

4. As far as Iraq, I don't take a stand in that issue. The reason for that is I don't know what to ####ing think anymore. On principle I detest any act of systematic violence for its sheer inhumane brutality, but I'm not going to claim I know what situations call for intermediate policing force or who should or should not do what. Honestly I don't know but at a swift glance it seems to me that Mr. Bush used the horror, sorrow and outrage of the American people after 9/11 to quickly go to war (over-running the UN Security Counsil AGAIN...) and in effect boost his own and his friends/'partners' stock portfolio in oil, security-technology, arms and infrastructural service and technology. Cashing in on a terrible ####ing tragedy.

"Meanwhile right now thousands of kids U.S., British, Iraqi, Afghani and certainly several other nationalities are losing and risking their lives because 'The New American Century' with Cheney, Bush, Kissinger and pals in Washington D.C. and some of George's ex-pals from the Saudi desert decide to let the fire come down around us all. I honestly don't think Utah is at risk anymore than Lappland is whoever blows shit up will do it to cause more woes, they're not gonna give a shit about a potato-field in Sweden nor Idaho...

"By the way, and this is just plain weird as far as I'm concerned... CIA operatives are actually arresting people HERE in Sweden on loosely grounded suspicions of terrorism... this as a result of Bush's 'War on Terror' and The PATRIOT Act a pile of paper that basically overturns the Bill of Rights passed by people who didn't even read it...

"I could go on but I hope I've made my case. I'm not in any way Anti-american, actually I'm closer to pro-american. But I do strongly question the justification of corporate-sponsored 'politicians' in any kind of position that touches on infrastructure, public health, ecology, education, general economy, legislation etc. and U.S.-foreign policy in general.

"Now I'm pretty sure George Bush Jr.'s really ####ing funny to throw a BBQ with but I wouldn't trust the guy with the future of my kids for the life of me the dude can barely just read himself. And anyone with repeat offenses involving alcohol and drugs who for reasons beyond our knowledge gets away unscathed, in spite of state law should NOT run a country, especially the most powerful nation on the planet.

I've been a Megadeth fan for quite some time, though I haven't really followed them in years. However, it's refreshing to see someone like Dave Mustaine making so much sense. I'm not talking about this because he's voting for Bush but because he's asking people to make up their own minds instead of listening to their favorite musicians' opinions. Read on:

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently spoke to Pit Magazine about the group's comeback effort, "The System Has Failed", and the upcoming presidential elections, among other topics. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

Pit Magazine: The cover painting [on the new album] is very striking. It marks the return of band mascot Vic Rattlehead who is accepting payoffs from politicians. Where did the idea come from and weren't you going to use longtime MEGADETH artist Ed Repka to do the cover?

Dave Mustaine: "That was my idea. I talked to Repka, but he got weird with me. We talked about a price, but he is another ingrate. He was a college kid who I put on the map. He wasn't doing anything, we had him do one record cover and then every record cover after that he used the same exact paint that he did 'Peace Sells' with. He mustve bought too much paint. THE CIRCLE JERKS record was done in the same colors. We talked and we had everything worked out and then he started jacking the price up. Then I said goodbye and this time it's forever. I got a guy named Mike Lerner to do it. A lot of people see Bush up front and think that I'm anti-Bush. But everybody is there. The Clintons, Arafat and Blair, the Arabs; nobody is guilt-free. Even though Bush is waving his finger at Vic, what Vic stands for is so much deeper than anybody is on the cover. And the point of the cover is that you can get away with murder in America. You can buy your way out of it."

Pit Magazine: Speaking of politicians, it is an election year in the United States and that has many famous people endorsing presidential candidates. You did the opposite because you recently said, "musicians should shut the fuck up and play music because they dont know anything about running a country."

Dave Mustaine: "You see Al Jourgensen of MINISTRY going around saying 'Fuck Bush.' And I've always liked MINISTRY but I know that guy has a legendary drug problem so you can't really take what he is saying seriously. The United States is the strongest country in the world for a reason. Now I'm gonna vote for Bush. I voted for Clinton, but I don't give a fuck because I vote for the lesser of two evils. Kerry is a mistake. He will ruin our country. But the fact that people would vote based on who a celebrity endorses is just stupid. Don't vote for Bush because I'm voting for him. Don't vote for Kerry because you hate me."

First John Kerry said that, if elected, he would wage "a more sensitive war on terror" and now he says that he'll wage "a smarter, tougher, more effective war". So ... which is it? More sensitive or tougher? Is this Wednesday? Then it must be tougher ...

People keep talking about how "less than intelligent" George W. Bush is but how smart is it for Kerry to continue to refuse to apologize for bringing up Cheney's daughter's sexuality during the last debate? Why not just say, "I'm sorry ... I shouldn't have said that" instead of still claiming that it was meant in a positive way? His "people" also claim that the issue is "fair game" because it was brought up during the Vice Presidential debate as well. What?! Who brought it up? John Edwards! They also claim that Cheney thanked Edwards for it ... when, in fact, Cheney looked very annoyed and just wanted to change the subject instead of grabbing Edwards by the throat and slapping some sense into the guy.

People keep asking me what John Kerry is doing wrong to make me not like the guy. It's simple ... he will do ANYTHING that it takes and SAY anything that he thinks people want to hear in order to TRY (in vain) to get elected. I just don't know who the REAL John Kerry is because he hasn't shown that face to us yet. As it stands, he just seems like the biggest phony to ever run for President.

Been busy the last few days but I just have to chime in here for a bit. Listening to John Kerry speaking it has to make you wonder how this guy can sleep at night. He is now saying outright LIES about Bush (the draft and social security, for starters) instead of just exaggerations. He has sunk to a new low and it's obvious why ... because he can't understand why Bush is still leading in most polls even after he (Kerry) "won" all three debates. I think that the American people are finally starting to wisen up about this political chameleon ...

How can anyone possible downplay or even support John Kerry's mention of Dick Cheney's daughter as a lesbian during the debate? Not only that but afterwards one of Kerry's mouthpieces claiming her as "fair game"? Top it all off with Mrs. Edwards statement of, "it indicates a certain degree of shame ..." on the part of the Cheneys when questioned about that statement? THESE are the people that we want leading this country????

And what about those DNC documents sent out to their voter base ENCOURAGING them to make false claims of voter discrimination where there is none??? Will these people stop at nothing in order to try to put their man in the White House ... regardless of how much they don't even like him themselves???

20 Days Until We Re-Elect George W. Bush

After tonight's debate, and no matter what any pundits on either side might have to say about who "won" and who "lost" this third showdown, I am more convinced than ever that Bush will remain in office for another four years.

Our President was clear, focused, steadfast, confident ... and strong with his convictions. He hit Kerry hard on his (lack of a) Senate record ("his rhetoric doesn't match his Senate record"), the "nuisance" debacle, taxes, the economy, education ... everything that he SHOULD have done ("he says that we've cut Pell Grants and we've actually INCREASED them by one million students"). Bush also exhibited his great sense of humor a few times, which is one of my favorite aspects of this man. As I've said a million times before ... he just seems very REAL.

Kerry played his "great debater" role yet again to near perfection ... but there were a few instances where he stumbled a bit (abortion, raising taxes ...) and even a touch of underhanded tactics (bringing up Cheney's daughter's homosexuality to try to gain points with the TRUE Conservatives, I guess). His biggest mistakes, in my opinion, included insinuating that our current allies in the Iraq theater are not "true alliances" as well as confusing (yet again) health CARE with health COVERAGE ... not to mention the constant "I have a plan ..."

On the plus side for Kerry he did manage to only bring up Vietnam references twice (that I counted)and he even broke character long enough to throw a joke (quip) in during the final question of the night about the strong women in their lives. Perhaps he'd be that much more likeable if he were to do this more often ...

Overall, it wasn't much of a thrilling debate ... but it did have its moments. The Kool-Aid drinkers on the Kerry side will undoubtedly claim a "third" victory for their guy ... but anyone with a truly "fair and balanced" sense will be honest and give the "win" to the true winner ... George W. Bush.

Quieting the talking heads

No, not the BAND (they rock!) ... I'm talking about the anchors and commentators on most news networks (and the majority of spokespersons/advisors to the candidates) who repeatedly claim that Kerry won BOTH debates so far. I can understand why they say he won the first (although I don't agree) but how anyone can say that Kerry WON the second debate is ... inconceivable. Once again I have to ask, "were we watching the SAME debate?"

We're just about two hours away from the third (and final) debate, which I'm seriously looking forward to. Of course, Kerry's people will undoubtedly claim that he won and most Bush people will claim that their (our) guy "won" but ... well ... we'll see how it goes. I have confidence in MY guy. He hasn't let me down yet.

Go Bush!

By the way, has everyone noticed how horrible EVERYTHING is going in Iraq lately? Insurgents turning in their weapons, Iraqis kicking out terrorists from their towns, etc. Yeah ... it's definitely a quagmire. Where's that eyeroll emoticon when you need it?

Why is it that every time something John Kerry has said which has caused him serious criticism ("I actually voted for the 87 billion ... before I voted against it", the latest "nuisance" comments about terrorism, etc.) gets called upon by the Right-wing pundits and commentators, the wannabe president ALWAYS claims that he "mispoke". Isn't he supposed to be such an eloquent, intelligent, and top-notch debater? Doesn't he think things through before he says them? Well ... Obviously not, right?

What I (and many others, judging by news reports and postings) want to know is exactly when was terrorism just a nuisance? Come on John-boy ... explain yourself (or try) yet again. Go ahead and backpedal around the question and beat around the bush as you did with that abortion question at the second debate. I wonder if the families of those killed aboard the U.S.S. Cole thought of that attack as just a nuisance. Also have to wonder if the families of Daniel Pearl and every other innocent person beheaded by savages thought of losing their loved ones as just a nuisance. You can try to weasel out of those comments, John-boy, but the American people are not THAT stupid to believe your rebuttals.

Shall we also talk about that "stellar" Senate record? Nah ... not tonight. What about the claim of having had "one consistent position on Iraq" all along? That right there is nothing but high comedy, folks.

I also wanted to mention all of these PLANS that we keep hearing about from Kerry and Edwards. "I have a plan ..." ... alright, so what exactly is it? We get sent to websites which are supposed to detail these so-called many plans ... but there really is no "meat" to those bones. Just more double-talk and wordy nonsense. The people want a simple clear answer ... don't we?

I believe that Kerry's true plan is to finally come up with a plan ... but, unfortunately, that all has to wait. You see, there are many tanning sessions and Global Tests to pass before then ...

According to Blabbermouth.net, Godsmack vocalist Sully Erna wants a Republican as our next President. That sounds rational to me, on the surface, but I think that the rest of his comments are a cop-out ... or maybe pandering to the Bush haters. What do you think?

Launch Radio Networks reports: As the Presidential election looms closer, more and more artists seem to be coming out in support of John Kerry. But don't count GODSMACK singer Sully Erna among those Kerry supporters. Erna differs from many musicians in that he's not in favor of the Democratic candidate for President.

Although he's not necessarily a Bush fan, he knows what he wants to see. "I'm a Republican. I want Republican," Erna said. "I don't necessarily want Bush to win. I don't like that choice, but I gotta tell you, I don't truly believe in the Democrats either, man. I don't like the way they think. I don't like, I don't love Bush, I'll tell you that, but I want a Republican in office."

I just don't see why he had to bring up the whole , "I don't really like Bush, but ..." thing. Sully, if you're reading this (ha!) how can you want a Republican in office but NOT support Bush? That just makes no sense to me ...

Ever since becoming involved with ConservativePunk.com I've been receiving countless emails both praising and insulting my work and association with them. The vast majority of comments have been positive but the negative ones all share one common aspect ... vulgarity. It's true. Seems like people don't know any other way of expressing their disapproval other than curse words. Makes you wonder if any of these people have actually been to high school (at the very least).

My association with that site and the fact that I currently publish this Blog have also contributed to having my record label blacklisted by certain people and companies ... one in particular being German (Fiendforce Records). Soon as my first article was published at ConservativePunk.com Fiendforce and their sister site, FiendClub.de, dropped my banners from their rotation and proceeded to rally against my label and I in their editorials. Fiendforce have also gone out of their way to pressure bands into not signing with my label and have even warned bands that associating themselves with me and my label will cause them to not be able to tour Europe. That's insane!

First of all, my label and my own personal views are two totally separate things. I don't mix music with politics and prefer to keep it that way. As a matter of fact. most of my bands don't share my Conservative views but I don't hold that against them ... it's their right. BUT ... due to my own personal views I'm being harassed by these people and losing business. I've even been called a Nazi for having the "nerve to support the Nazi-like Bush regime". WHAT?!

So who's being the fascist? The Nazi? Who's being intolerant? Why should my political views come into play when music is involved? I'm sure that the beef industry isn't going to boycott my label simply because I'm a vegetarian. This all just makes no sense to me ... and I'm seriously ticked off.

Bush / Kerry Debate: Round 2

Unlike the majority (it seems) of other people out there I actually thought that George W. Bush did a fine job with the first debate. I didn't even mind his facial expressions of disgust ... who wouldn't be disgusted or annoyed by Kerry's claims? So some polls had Kerry beating Bush in that first debate ... so what? Are we going to be voting for the best debater on November 2nd or for the man who will lead our country and protect us from those that will do us harm?

I find it odd that people keep harping on the economy when, in fact, it's actually doing pretty well ... and getting better every day. Unemployment is even at a lower level than it was during the Clinton years. George W. Bush brought us through and out of an inherited recession, the dot-com bubble bursting, and the 9/11 tragedies. What would have happened and where would we be had a weaker (Gore?) person been in office? I'm glad we didn't get to find out. And now ... the debate:

Kerry, simply put, bored me. He was like an android repeating talking points and misguided jabs at the President. He spent most of his time name-dropping military generals and Republicans that he said agreed with his vision. He even brought up Vietnam again ... though, thankfully, only once. I just don't trust the guy. He doesn't seem genuine ... at all. It's obvious that the John Kerry we see on TV is not the REAL John Kerry. He's being the person that he thinks his audience wants him to be ... depending on the situation. It also boggles my mind how he could keep claiming to NOT be a flip-flopper when we have so much audio and video tape of him doing just that. John Kerry for President? Not MY President ...

Bush, on the other hand, was once again himself. He seemed at ease and confident. Most importantly, he hit Kerry where it hurts by bringing up his opponent's inconsistencies and having good replies and answers to the questions posed. He brought up the OIL FOR FOOD mess and Kerry's (lack of a) Senate record repeatedly and effectively.

One of Bush's best moments tonight was when he said something along the lines of how Kerry's plan "sounds familiar .. it's the Bush plan." Another great moment was when Kerry inexplicably made a comment about Bush's lumber company earnings and Bush replied, " I own a timber company? That's news to me. Want some wood?"

Overall, it was a spirited debate and Charles Gibson was an effective moderator. Kerry was the Kerry du jour that he needed to be and George W. Bush once again proved to me (and the world) why we need him for four more years.

I'm ashamed to say that John Kerry was in my state today ... last two days, actually, I think. I thought I smelled the "bull" in the air ... but wasn't sure until I turned on the news and discovered the source of that stench.

Look, Bush people will back Bush and Kerry people will back Kerry (until they peek behind the wizard's curtain). That's the way it goes. Sometimes it's futile to even try to change anyone's opinion of their candidate. But guess what? It DOES work, on occasion, if you're persistent and knowledgeable about your "guy". I know this for the simple reason that up until very recently my own girlfriend was a staunch Democrat ... but not anymore.

She says that I'm very opinionated and would sometimes get ticked off when I changed the radio station in the car from NPR to our local Conservative Talk station. But after seeing Kerry fumble all over himself repeatedly, watching him backpedal, and listening to me debunk most of the Leftie talking points ... she is now a convert to the Bush way. I'm so proud of my little Liberal ... or ex Liberal.

You see, folks? IT WORKS. Once these Kerry-ites actually see the man for who he truly is without their blinders on ... they switch to the RIGHT side. It's possible. BE PERSISTENT. Keep ramming the point(s) home.

I wish that these musicians (some of whom I'm fans of) would either get all of their facts straight before opening their mouths ... or just keep their uninformed traps shut. I don't normally respond to these types of commentary but I'm feeling a bit extra feisty tonight and the bullshit detector is set on high so ... when I saw the following comment by Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate it rattled my nerves:

On QUEENSRCHE's acoustic show at the recent No Vote Left Behind festival encouraging young people to vote and promoting "regime change" in the White House:

"Voting is real important. It's part of being an American, part of being a citizen. I've heard so many people say, 'I never vote.' I don't understand that at all. I can't even relate to it. Voting is part of what makes America special. If you don't vote, you can't complain about anything."

"I think that for anyone who has looked at the performance of this administration, there's no choice but to vote them out. They've failed on every level.

"As a band, we travel the world. And everywhere we go, 'What is going on in America? Why are people supporting this administration? Why is this happening?' And you know, I don't have an answer. It stuns me. It amazes me, and I don't understand why anybody would look at this failure and say, 'Vote him in again.' "

I guess that Geoff is all about that GLOBAL TEST as well ...

While I like to keep my music and politics separate and I'm still a fan of this band's early works I can't help but feel sorry for Geoff and the countless others with such a negative view of our country. It's sad ...

The Cheney / Edwards Debate

Well, the debate just finished and I wanted to throw my two cents in BEFORE watching any other commentary about it. The TV is off and my mind is still fresh with the memories ...

... and what memories! If I read that ANYONE thinks Edwards won this debate I'll lose all of my faith in humanity and their judgment. As I said previously, I don't think that it's important who "wins" these things (as proven by Bush maintaining his lead in most polls although he "lost" that debate) but Cheney was so vocal and strong with his convictions and feelings ... and he hit Edwards so damned HARD that it's unimaginable that anyone can possibly label tonight's debate as a loss for the guy.

He continuously hammered Edwards about Kerry's 30 year record and that "global test". He hammered him about having missed so many votes in the Senate and one specific quote that stands out was, "I'm there every Tuesday that we meet and the first time I met you (Edwards) was when you walked on the stage tonight." Zing! When confronted with Haliburton questions, Cheney immediately referred Edwards to FactCheck.org, which sheds some light on the actual truth. He also did a fine job of pointing out all of the "pluses" of this current administration.

Edwards, on the other hand, seemed like he was trying to recall some memorized quips and comments throughout the entire debate. He was sometimes rude (interrupting) and even broke the rules a couple of times during a segment in which you weren't supposed to mention your running mate's name.

Four aspects that stand out most are his refusal to quote the ENTIRE wording of Kerry's "global test" statement (only quoting the first half .. before the but); his rationalizing repeatedly that the truth of what's happening in Iraq is what you see on TV, leaving out all the positive aspects of which there most certainly ARE numerous ones; bringing up how he and Kerry have a PLAN, yet never really saying what the plan(s) is (are); and his own bringing up of Kerry's VIETNAM experience at least four times that I noticed. He also seemed to back-pedal quite a bit and was all over the place at times, circling around points that were never fully expressed.

Yes, Cheney rocked tonight ... and if you didn't think so ... well, you're either clueless or way too partisan to admit it.

Now to check on what everyone else is saying ...

Seems like a teacher was almost fired for having a picture of President and Mrs. Bush pinned on a bulletin board next to the Declaration of Independence and a pic of George Washington. What?!! Someone please explain to me what's wrong with having a picture of the current President in the classroom? Is this not the United States and is he not our current leader?

Regardless of your political views you can't possibly think that this teacher was wrong ... though I'm sure plenty of you Kerry supporters will. The picture and its display were in no way partisan. There was no "Re-Elect Bush" lettering or commentary of any kind associated with the picture.

How did this start? Seems like a handful of parents complained after a parent-teacher conference because there wasn't a picture of Kerry up there as well. Once again ... what?!! No matter what happens in November, Kerry is not YET President so his picture has no reason to be on display. And if you ask me, he never will be, either.

Isn't it funny how the Democrats were all downplaying the polls when they showed Bush ahead by double digits ... and now they're all so exuberant because those same polls show Kerry catching up? I actually don't find it funny but, rather, sad ... maybe even pathetic.

I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Cheney/Edwards debate on Tuesday. Bush may have made some faces in response to the "nonsense du jour" that Kerry was spewing but Cheney? I think he'll go beyond just expressions of disgust and rip right into Edwards. Perhaps not in a overtly malicious way, but Edwards can expect to get OWNED. Remember ... Cheney calls them like he sees them. Do you recall what happened on the Senate floor that shocked so many Dems? Hahahah ...

People all over are still talking about how "angry" and "annoyed" President Bush looked during the debate. As I've said before, I think the man has every right to feel that way, especially after putting up with the countless personal attacks he's received courtesy of the Kerry Camp. What's wrong with showing a little emotion? Is it better to be stone-faced and monotone all the time ... like Kerry always seems to be?

I've heard people say that he shouldn't have reacted to Kerry's comments so visually and maybe they're right ... but it's one of the main reasons why I like Bush so much. He did what I would have done in that situation. I can identify with the guy.

Look, with Bush we know where he stands and what his position is on most things. With Kerry, the only thing we know for sure is that he'll take whichever position suits his purpose at any specific time.

That's all for now. Keep the angry emails coming, folks ... they make my day and I may decide to publish the best ones. Heh-hehh ... I warned you!

Were we watching the SAME debate???

You know, after watching news accounts and reading other blog postings dealing with last night's debate and after sifting through quite a few emails (and even some comments on these pages) I find it hard to believe that we WERE all watching the same debate.
Kerry's people are claiming a victory for their guy and saying how "presidential" and "direct" and "steadfast" he was while they claim that Bush seemed annoyed, angry, and even tired. Personally, I thought that Bush did a great job. As I stated in last night's entry, he was ... himself. Straight-forward and to the point. I also felt that Kerry had found yet another face to display ... another Kerry. Sort of like, "well, if you didn't like my other 75 personalities here's a new one for you. Like it?" Last night it just happened to be the direct, stern, "presidential" Kerry.
Remember that Michael Keaton movie, Multiplicity? Keaton's character cloned quite a number of new versions of himself - a slob, an egghead, a ladies' man, etc. That's what it seems like Kerry is now doing. On the other hand, Bush has been the same Bush from day one.
Look, folks, it's obvious that Lefties will vote for their guy while the Right will vote for theirs. The difference that I'm seeing is that a large number of Kerry's votes will be from the "anyone but Bush" crowd, while the majority (if not all) of Bush votes will be from people that actually believe in and stand behind their candidate.
Let me close this post by informing you all that I'm going to disable the "anonymous" commenting feature. Why? Because I feel that if you have a valid point to make you should also have the balls to show who you are. It's only fair ... you know who I am.

Tonight's Bush / Kerry Debate

Undoubtedly you'll have found a plethora of other commentaries about this first of three debates already elsewhere on the net so I won't get all nit-picky and analytical on you. Instead, I'll just give you the first thoughts that came to mind immediately following the debate.

For the first time EVER Kerry didn't seem like he was scolding the audience. He didn't seem as angry as usual. It's obvious that his new advisors have, indeed, advised him well. BUT ... this was yet another face of John Kerry, the man of 1,000 faces (including his recent orange one) .. and just as many positions on each and every issue.

After all the flack he's received from the Conservatives (and even some Liberals) for always bringing up Vietnam in his speeches and comments, Kerry still brought it up at least 8 times, including in his closing comments. He also once again ragged on the President for having said "mission accomplished" when we all know that Bush DIDN'T say that at all. Typical Kerry. His supporters will say he won this debate, of course, but I seriously doubt that it won him any Undecided votes.

George W. Bush was ... well ... himself. He got flack from some news commentators for leaning on the podium (among other things) but all that showed me was that he was comfortable in what he was doing ... and saying. He's obviously comfortable with his positions and stands behind them 100% The man is REAL. There was even a touching moment when you could tell that he was on the verge of tears while answering a question about our troops being in danger (and some dying) in Iraq. Since the debate ended I have watched many a pundit claiming that Bush looked "angry" and "lost" and all I can say about that is ... were we watching the same debate? I mean, I didn't think he seemed that way at all.

The one thing that stands out most about Bush's comments tonight was when he stated about Kerry, "the only thing consistent about my opponent is that he's inconsistent". You've got that right, George. I was also glad that he debunked recent rumors by stating in his closing comments that our armed forces, under his leadership, would remain "an all-volunteer army".

From the Frontlines: A Soldier's-Eye View of the Situation in Iraq

The internet can be a truly magical and amazing place, bringing together people from all over the world. Friendships are developed and conversations are held online which are just as valuable to the participants as face to face communication. Yes, there are obviously bad sides to the world wide web as well (stalkers, child abuse, defamation, slander, etc.) but, for the most part, it's a great tool for knowledge, entertainment, and communication. Not to mention fun ... and friendship.

There are specific online communities where people can gather and meet others who share interests and it was in such a community where I met Don, a soldier currently stationed in Iraq. Since the traditional media outlets seem fond of pointing out the negative aspects of the War, calling it a "quagmire", and completely (for the most part) ignoring all the good that's being accomplished by our troops over there, I thought I'd get Don's opinion. The opinion of someone who is actively involved in the turmoil ... whose life is in danger each and every day in the war theater. How does this participant feel about it? No talking head, no spin, no crap ... just the views of someone that KNOWS what he's talking about, first-hand.

What first made you decide to join the armed forces? How long have you been in service?

I joined the Army through the Delayed Entry Program in 1983 and went active in '84. My first active tour was with the 82d Airborne Division Fort Bragg. After my first tour I joined the reserves in a Drill Sergeant Unit and pushed troops at Ft Dix, NJ. The Reserves were unfulfilling at the time and I decided to go back active through the Special Forces 18X program. I spent about a year in the program but was injured (hernia). While recuperating from that I broke my ankle and SF put me back on the block. I was away from the service from '91 until January of 2003. A friend of mine was in the National Guard (Infantry) and said they were being deployed to Iraq. He asked if I was interested but I didn't think the Army could still have a use for someone my age in the Infantry. I talked to the recruiter and 'voila!'.

What were your thoughts when you first found out that you were going to Iraq?

As I mentioned above I came back after over a decade specifically TO go to Iraq, so I'm fine with it. I think it is akin to being on a farm club baseball team and finding out you're going to the majors.

How have your family and friends reacted to your current situation? Are they supportive of what you're doing?

I come from a military family so they are extremely supportive. I come from a long line of military. My family are Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution and have served in every major war in one capacity or another.

You recently mentioned not being able to "Blog" anymore, thanks to access being denied. Why did this happen, in your opinion?

It's sad but I believe necessary. The internet provides a fast and easy way to disseminate information to millions in a few moments. It gives everybody a voice and an audience. Unfortunately, some people, whether trying to inform or impress, inadvertently post information that could jeopardize Coalition operations in the Theater. My assumption is that with thousands of soldiers with laptops over here that info that shouldn't have gotten out probably did. Some young troopers don't realize that the Bad Guys are on MYSPACE as well. I, myself, have encountered them here. The Jihadists utilize the internet as a primary intelligence gathering and distribution tool.

How do you feel about the way in which the majority of traditional media outlets are reporting mostly about the negative aspects of current events in Iraq ... and how do you see them? In your opinion, are things as bad as the Left is trying to portray? Are we really in a "quagmire"?

If it bleeds then it leads. I had a conversation the other night as I escorted a member of CNN to the safety of his security detail. He asked me almost the exact same question so I answered him honestly. For whatever reason, the majority of the American media not only focus on the negative but sensationalize it. He scoffed at that until I gave him several examples of his OWN network falsifying news stories and being deceptive. He had no rebuttal.
We are in an environment where sleaze merchants like Michael Moore cater to the addled sheep in our nation. Moore has even referred to the American people as sheep being lead (ironically he wasn't referring to his own following). I find these people to be anger personified and LOOKING for a reason to justify their anger. They don't want criminals executed but support abortion. They whine about employment but spend their days dressed as Sea Turtles at protest marches instead of LOOKING for work. They are lazy and indolent and no matter what gets fixed they find another excuse to be angry. The media saw the buzz generated by the Moore and his propaganda piece and, being the whores that they are, are trying to capitalize on that sensationalism and pander to that demographic. I find it pathetic and disturbing.

How have you and your men been treated and perceived by the Iraqi people, overall?

The Arab culture stresses respect and politeness so, for the most part, very well. Like any human being most times you will receive what you give. I treat the Iraqis with great respect and am mindful of their customs and culture. This is, after all, their country. Consequently I have made many Iraqi friends. Some of them are not fond of checkpoints and soldiers in particular but judge me as an individual not a uniform. Respect is crucial in this culture and being base, rude or vulgar gets you nowhere fast.

What have been your most memorable moments so far in Iraq ... good and/or bad?

Finding that Iraqi friends of mine have been murdered by insurgents for collaborating. Finding out that other Iraqi friends of mine were in fact giving info to the enemy. Having a former member of Saddam's Army tell his friends that in me he had found a best friend and an American that he respected and thought of as a brother. Having an ancient Iraqi woman in Black Birka hobble up to me crying and kissing my face and the translator telling me that she was asking Allah's blessing on me for risking MY life for HER people. She lost her entire family to Saddam. The list is endless and my days are filled with events that will always be with me.

How long have you been away from home now and when do you THINK you might be coming home?

10 months away and I'll go home when I'm done :)

What do you miss the most about "home"?

Sushi and women.

Is there anything that you'll miss once you finally leave Iraq?

My Iraqi friends. It will be hard wondering how they are getting along and I pray for them daily.

It seems to me that you guys (and ladies) are in serious danger each and every minute of every day. Do you see it that way?

You adjust. I spent several years working as a bouncer and have more scars and been shot just as much as a civilian. The Muslims have a saying, "Insha Allah": It's God's Will. What happens will happen and I will not live my life in fear (unless Kerry gets elected).

On a related note, I (and many others) also see you guys as heroes. How do you feel about that?

cemeteries are full of people who saw themselves as Heroes. I am much more comfortable with the term "patriot" than "hero".

If given the opportunity to go back in time and have a choice, would you be where you are today again? Why?

Absolutely. Why? See all of the above.

In as little or as much detail as you want to divulge, give us a summary of a typical day (and night) in Iraq for you.

I wake up, shave and put on my uniform. Typically I will spend several hours in a gun tower or searching people and vehicles for explosives or other weapons. I then will go on a patrol either to maintain presence or to actively seek out the enemy or evidence of his activities. When I get off duty I shower, grab a bite and get on the internet or watch a DVD.

Thank you for taking the time to do this interview, Don. I fully support everything that you guys are doing and wish you back home soon. Anything that you'd like to end this with? Any parting words/comments for our readers?

There are no words that can put you here or give you a true understanding. Seven blind men will all describe an elephant differently. Do not be lured by the press or politicians. Until they take up arms they are merely spectators in the oxygen seats without a good view of the game. If they use binoculars they can see bits and pieces close up but only at the expense of no longer being able to see the entire field. Be vigilant, be thoughtful and be prayerful.

O'Reilly, part two!

Did you happen to catch part two of Bill O'Reilly's exclusive interview with the President? It's a common joke that politicians are inherently dishonest (or crooked) but I'll be damned if Bush doesn't always come accross as confident and secure with everything that he's saying. The man speaks to you, obviously aware of most people's bullshit detectors being on alert ... and he never misses a beat.
Unlike his opponent, George W. Bush knows how to talk to people as opposed to at them. Many pundits have made comments about this aspect of the President and have even reinforced the fact that he has practically never lost a debate. I am so looking forward to watching the first debate tomorrow night ... watching Kerry face his obviously superior foe.
Unlike most other commentators I'm not going to even bother to mention the fact that Kerry now has a can tan. Oh, wait ... I just did! Oh well ... it's just one more phoney aspect of the guy. He claimed to have naturally gotten the tan while playing football with some college kids ... but these kids are now saying that he was already orange when he got to the game! Why lie about something so trivial? Seems to me that it just comes natural to him ...

Bush Faces O'Reilly!

Kudos yet again for our President, having the cojones to go face to face with Bill O'Reilly ... without prior knowledge of the questions or any restrictions places on subject matter. Let's see the Vietnam War hero agree to the same scenario. Yeah ... riiiight. Kerry might be pretty darned good at reading prepared speeches but an off-the-cuff interview where he HAS TO be candid .. and give convincing answers? Don't make me laugh ...
President Bush did an amazing job of candidly answering ALL questions without any sugar coating or run-around. O'Reilly is notorious for being a tough interviewer and he did ask some tough questions (WMD's, the infamous "mission accomplished" speech, problems at our borders, etc.) but Bush, in my opinion, fully answered each and every one.
Tonight was the first part of a three-part interview and if you missed it you can watch it online at the O'Reilly site. I suggest that EVERYONE watch these interviews.
I'm starting to think that perhaps the Kerry household is lacking a TV set and VCR or Tivo. I mean, how could John Kerry go in front of an audience (as he did today) claiming to have always had just ONE position on the war in Iraq??? Is this guy for real? Does he think that we're stupid ... or just technologically challenged???
